Emma Summers’ ceramics have been created using a variety of ceramic techniques including paper clay, slip casting and raku, the Japanese firing technique.

Carefully selected items of clothing are repeatedly dipped into an earthenware casting slip. Once dried, each piece of clothing reveals a unique shape and form. During the firing process the cloth is burnt away, leaving a beautiful cast of the original item. The ceramics are then finished using the raku firing process.
