KILN TO TABLE

A large and exciting exhibition of functional table and kitchenware made by studio potters -

This exhibition has three main objectives. First, in the tradition of The Gallery at Bevere, we want to demonstrate the range and diversity of functional ceramics. Second, to show that it is possible to bring the uniqueness of studio ceramics to the dining table and third to encourage people to think about using these beautiful pots on a day to day basis. Every potter relishes the notion that his or her work is a part of everyday domestic ritual.

We have consciously brought together work that might be seen as ‘traditional’ with the more ‘contemporary’ – although when put together in this exhibition such distinctions are difficult to sustain. Design, decoration and functionality are important but above all if each piece feels good in the hand or draws the eye and enhances the presentation of food on the table – then it more than fulfils its function. To most people, eating is a pleasurable experience – the work in this exhibition can only add to that experience. Enjoy!
