Sculptures, Ceramics and Paintings

Kim Taylor tells us "The Summer Exhibition at The Gallery at Bevere, is a veritable feast for the senses."

The 'Gallery in the Garden' Sculpture Trail takes you over the lush lawns, down the sweeping drive and on into the fantastic laurel woods, surrounding Bevere Knoll. Feel the warmth of the summer sun whilst listening to the birds serenading from the boughs above, all the time looking out for another exciting sculpture located at the end of a winding wooded path or confidently in full view on the lawns or nestled amongst the shrubs and specimen trees. With care, we encourage guests to feel the sculptures on show from the coolness of the stone pieces to the textures of the ceramics and the polished surfaces of the bronzes.

The Café Upstairs offers a tray service in the gardens allowing visitors the opportunity to continue to experience the sculptures whilst enjoying freshly prepared light bites and beverages al fresco.

The Inside the galleries, we are continuing to exhibit an exciting and provoking selection of ceramics and paintings where decoration and detail are the themes.

If clay is the body of the pot then decoration is the voice.

Jean-Paul Landreau says that each of his designs is intended to "sing out to the viewers' own imagination" whereas Mark Dally's sculptural pieces suggest a mysterious function that is never explained. He tries to engage viewers through humour and curiosity to create their own answers about the value and importance of the piece.

The detail in the paintings range from the intricate and deliberate pencil marks of Valerie Briggs work to the abstraction of the detail in Thelma Ayre's modern landscapes in oils and Trudy Lyn's use of found objects on an acrylic canvas. Scottish artist Niall McWilliam aims to conjure moods in is work, which the audience can share and enjoy. He has developed his painting techniques allowing a layering of materials that are built up creating a visual depth to his work.

We are delighted be showing David Poxon's work in the summer exhibition having been recently awarded the Frank Herring prize for best still life painting at the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour Exhibition at the Mall Gallery, London.
