Tradition and Talent
An exhibition of Ceramics and Paintings
Especially featuring
Ceramics by Jim Malone, highly regarded stoneware potter
and paintings by Worcestershire artist Chris Howells
Malone stands well apart from most other potters because of the unsurpassed quality of his
pots. It is nearly impossible to describe the difference between a pot that just sits there and
a pot that seems to 'sing', but nearly every collector of 'Oriental' British pots would agree
that where most pots don't sing, Malone's DO.
Kim Taylor gallery owner says "We are delighted and honoured to have this one-man show
by Jim Malone and look forward to sharing the experience of exhibiting a significant body of
Malone's work with makers, collectors and friends alike.&qiot;
Chris was born in Worcestershire and from an early age he was aware that painting would play
a big part in his life. After graduating from art school and a career in firstly the exhibition
trade and then the glass industry, where his designs are still featured on windows and mirrors
in banks and public buildings, he decided to take up painting professionally.
In 1976 he began his highly successful career in art concentrating on rural landscapes,
which capture the extraordinary beauty and interest found in the countryside surrounding his
Worcestershire home.
Although he paints mainly in oils his watercolours are greatly admired and offer an
alternative to his striking oil paintings.
