Exploring new boundaries

An exhibition of Ceramics and Paintings

New work from Will Levi Marshall - his first show for three years - this exciting architectural and stylish ceramicist exhibits alongside Daniel Smith who will provide contrast with his distinctive tableware and Fritz Rossman who brings new shapes and dynamic to the porcelain/celadon tradition.

The featured artist this month is Malvern based Trevor Smith who works almost exclusively from life, sketching in pencil and watercolour. His book "Sketching Wild Birds" distils his many years of experience into an informative and readable work.

Will Levi Marshall

Most of my gallery work has been developed around a subtle relationship between surface and form. This has lead to the development of a series of tile panels, which will be shown for the first time at The Gallery at Bevere. This approach to ceramics allows me to address more painterly issues in isolation and revels in the abstract use of colour.

Daniel Smith

Daniel Smith prefers the simplicity and austerity of the unadorned shape, and likes to explore the idea of one-off pieces that start to push the boundaries of function.

Fritz Rossman

My work relies on the historical language on the vessel form. I exploit the characteristics that evolve while working with clay, using these discoveries to enhance forms and surfaces.

Trevor Smith

Wildlife is an integral element of any environment and I try to depict it as such rather than as isolated portraits, after all what is a caged eagle without its Scottish mountain habitat?
I have long been involved with nature conservation as both volunteer and an employee and feel compelled to contribute towards its protection. Art is an excellent means of reaching a wide audience and drawing attention to the global plight of natural environments.
