EJM – 85TH BIRTHDAY SHOW

Paintings pots and original prints by Eric James Mellon

Celebrating a milestone birthday of one of the UK’s enduring and innovative figures in studio ceramics and paintings

Sat, 4th Sep 2010 – Sun, 26th Sep 2010

EJM – 85TH BIRTHDAY SHOW

Eric James Mellon in his 85th year is as prolific and creative as ever. Born in 1925 and drawing since the age of seven on any material he could find, he later developed techniques and glazes which enabled him to fix his drawing onto high fired stoneware. His research into ash glazes alone is enough to secure his place amongst the innovators of studio ceramics. Add to this his enormous output of pots paintings and prints and you have one of the outstanding ceramic artists of the last forty years.

The Gallery at Bevere is delighted to be celebrating his 85th Birthday with a rich and diverse exhibition of his work in all three media.

He will be taking part in a special event to mark the occasion, as well as being available during the opening of the show – on September 4th – to discuss his work and to sign copies of his new book which covers most if not all of his print making.

Eric will be producing a limited edition commemorative birthday print, which will also be for sale at this exhibition
